Nigeria‘s most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat has celebrated its fifth anniversary in Nigeria with a cocktail party attended by over 200 of its high value subscribers on Thursday, 31st November at the pool side of Raddison Blu Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Chief Commercial Officer and Acting CEO, Etisalat Nigeria, Matthew Willsher told guests at the event that though Etisalat was the last entrant in the telecommunications market in Nigeria, the company came with the obligation of providing affordable and reliable telecommunication services to Nigerians. Said Willsher: “Many of you can still recall that when we launched in 2008 the cost of communication was at its all time high. Now things have changed a great deal. Etisalat has been able to offer competitive products and services to Nigerians which has forced down the cost of keeping in touch with family, friends and business associates.”

The high point of the occasion was the unveiling of a new customer loyalty rewards scheme for high value customers on the Etisalat network tagged ‘Etisalat GEM,’ which Willsher believes “will improve customer experience on the network”

Revealing the new Etisalat GEM, Director, Marketing Segment and Strategy, Etisalat Nigeria, Oluwole Rawa explained that “the loyalty scheme for our high value subscribers is designed to show appreciation for their loyalty to Etisalat since inception.” On how the Etisalat GEM works, Rawa disclosed that with the scheme, Etisalat subscribers who use between N10,000 to N30,000 monthly will now be able to receive calls without being charged while roaming in the UK, USA, UAE, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and The Netherlands. They will also receive free calls and texts on their birthday, well as free data dongle with  500MB for six months

In addition, he said, high value subscribers who use between N30,000 to N50,000 will receive calls for free when roaming, free VIP box tickets to watch FC Barcelona, special invites to exclusive events, free Mifi  with 500MB data for 12 months, free calls and texts on their birthday, and high value identity card which they can use to gain express service at any Etisalat Experience Centre nationwide, among others.. For those who use between N50,000 and above, they will be entitled to receive calls for free when roaming, free medical checkup while abroad, free VIP Box tickets to watch FC Barcelona matches live, free shopping voucher abroad, special invites to exclusive events, free high end mobile phones, free calls and SMS on their birthdays, and an Etisalat High Value Identity card.
