Dead or Alive 5’s Last Round is on PS4, Xbox One
Street Fighter 4 isn’t the only modern fighter getting a multitude of releases: According to a Famitsu report (as translated by Kotaku), Koei Tecmo producer Yosuke Hayashi announced Dead or Alive 5: Last Round after an award ceremony at this weekend’s Japan Gamer’s Live. Xbox One 3D Blu-ray Support Coming Next Month
When the Xbox One console was released back in November some customers were not to happy to find out that the console’s Blu-ray player couldn’t play 3D Blu-rays. Its not that the hardware wasn’t capable of doing this, it was a software thing. Fortunately Microsoft has now thought that its about time this feature was opened up. The company has confirmed that Xbox One 3D Blu-ray support is coming through a software update in August. Xbox One gets that feature ahead of the PlayStation 4 which still can’t play 3D Blu-rays.
Apart from this the August Xbox One update is also going to bring a handful of social features. The Activity Feed interface will change to a single column scrolling list which is larger and would include more content. Users get the ability to post text on their feed, like and comment on feed items, share game clips and more. Each users gets a personal feed on their profile.
A rather simple feature that has been missing from the console comes in the next update. Microsoft says it was one of the most requested features from the Xbox One community. A notification will now pop up when the controller’s battery is getting low. Users will also be able to turn off notifications during video playback.
Using Xbox SmartGlass or Xbox.com users can now purchase games as well as add-on content remotely. If the Xbox One is set to automatically take updates the content will begin downloading right after its purchase, even if the owner is not at home.
Other features include the expansion of OneGuide in Brazil, Mexico, Austria and Ireland and a “last seen” time in Friends list which shows how long it has been since a friend was online. The update will be released to those who get early access by next week. All Xbox One owners will get the update in August.
Xbox One External Hard Drive Support Could Arrive In Future System Update
There is reason to believe that a future Xbox One system update would see the ability for the Xbox One console to support external hard drives, at least according to an Xbox One developer who prefers to remain anonymous. The developer posted an image that you can see above concerning this functionality, where it was accompanied by a caption which mentioned, “Adding more hype on the list of things to come.”
It is a pretty damning piece (in a very good way, of course) of evidence assuming what has been shown above is true to the bone, of course. In fact, those who have already taken part in the Xbox One preview programme have said to have received a taster of what one can expect from future Xbox One updates, which reportedly include fixes to Party Chat alongside a new manner of checking for system updates in a manual manner.
The good folks over at Microsoft have yet to detail the upcoming functionality that will be part of future updates in a formal manner, although they did mention in the past that they are working on rolling out external hard drive support. Perhaps the next update could very well be the one, don’t you think so?
Fans’ Anger As Xbox One Drops Kinect Feature
Microsoft announces it will offer a cut-price Xbox One without its flagship Kinect feature from next month amid flagging sales.
Early adopters of Microsoft’s Xbox One have reacted angrily after the firm slashed the price of the console by stripping out a major feature.
Sales of the device are flagging in comparison to the PlayStation 4, partly due to the console’s higher price tag.
Microsoft had always justified the cost by pointing to the Kinect 2.0 motion sensor device, which until recently it called “integral to the Xbox One experience”.
But soon it will offer a stripped-down version of the original Xbox One without the Kinect functionality. A version including the Kinect feature will still be available.
However, some fans fear that developers will no longer prioritise making use of the motion sensor features.
On the Xbox One forum on Reddit, one gamer said: “This is a slap in the face to early Kinect 2.0 adopters who were sold on the fact that every Xbox One owner would have one.”
Another said: “So the Xbox One is on an equal footing in terms of price with the PS4 now, but with weaker hardware and nothing to set itself apart? How is this a good idea?”
One added: “They said over and over that there would never be one without the Kinect. I feel pretty betrayed.”
The Kinect-less version of Xbox One will be available around the world from June 9.
In the UK the price will fall from £399 to £350, having originally launched with a price tag of £430.
Sales have lagged behind Sony’s PS4, which had sold seven million units by mid-April, at least two million units ahead of the Xbox One.
Microsoft has also announced it will make it possible to watch Netflix and YouTube via the console without the need for a paid Xbox Live account.
Hulu brings Chromecast-like screen-casting to video game consoles
Those that primarily watch Hulu Plus on a video game console can now trade their remote controls (or controllers) for a smartphone.
Yesterday, the company rolled out a new “remote control experience” update that brings all of the screen-casting functionality from Hulu’s Chromecast app to the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and PlayStation 3. (Sorry, Xbox 360 owners — you’re not cool enough anymore.) Like the Chromecast app, you just download the Hulu mobile app on an iOS or Android device that’s on the same Wi-Fi network that your console is using.
The move is just the latest in a growing trend among streaming services to shift away from traditional TV interfaces in favor of mobile devices. Basically, companies like Hulu are starting to realize that using a remote control to navigate through programming is a pain in the butt, but using your smartphone’s screen is pretty easy. And now that you can “cast” whatever show you want to watch to your TV, you really have no reason to keep using the old-school remote control.
Having played with Hulu’s Chromecast app for a while now, I can definitely say its a better experience than most of its set-top box apps, too.
Hulu said it’s planning to bring the new update to smart TVs, Blu-ray players, and other set-top boxes in the near future.

Jason Kilar, Hulu’s former CEO, explains the meaning of Hulu’s name, “Objectively, Hulu is short, easy to spell, easy to pronounce, and rhymes with itself. Subjectively, Hulu strikes us as an inherently fun name, one that captures the spirit of the service we’re building.” However, some aren’t so sure it was the wisest name to pick.
In September 2007 that Hulu acquired Bejing-based startup Mojiti and used its platform for the basis of the product.
Hulu gives advertisers an opportunity to associate their brands with its online video content. And, through the Hulu Plus subscription service, advertisers can extend their reach to the users of Hulu Plus enabled devices on market today.
New Xbox One System Update Starts To Roll Out Tonight
It seems that the new Xbox One system update is all set to roll out later tonight, and special mention to the Xbox Live members who actually previewed the features, while sharing some of their feedback which will hopefully make the final update a whole lot better. Just what are some of the features that this new update will deliver? Check it out after the jump.
For starters, there will be game and app saves and updates, where a game save progress bar will let you see the status of your game saves, now how about that? This would also allow you to tell at a glance the games and apps which are being updated, or have been updated recently.
Apart from that, improvements have also been made to your friends , where notifications will be added in order to check out just when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This also happened to be one of the most frequently requested features, hence it became a priority for inclusion in this particular update. Friends who happen to be in multiplayer too, will be identified in the friends list.
There are also improvements made to Kinect voice and motion, where some of the gesture functionality have been updated to reduce false positives on non-hand objects triggering gesture commands.

Xbox One finally lets you share game clips on YouTube
A new YouTube app headed to the console today will finally enable gamers to upload recorded gameplay clips directly to their YouTube accounts, Microsoft announced yesterday.
Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 record game sessions and share them with the world. But until now, Xbox One owners could only share videos to Microsoft’s OneDrive or stream their sessions live via Twitch.
The addition of easy YouTube sharing likely won’t win over many new customers for Microsoft, but it’s yet another feature that Sony doesn’t offer in the PlayStation 4 (which can only share videos on Facebook).
The new Xbox One YouTube app also shows videos split-screen in Snap Mode as well as adds YouTube channels to your console’s OneGuide (which also lists TV channels and content from other apps).
